Momentum Fund

Momentum Fund: An Exciting New Opportunity to Triple Your Support of SDHS

Thanks to an unprecedented contribution by former SDHS President Susan Manning, we are able to match any contributions to SDHS up to $10,000. Our target is 100% participation by our members. Please consider joining the momentum. Any amount you give is appreciated. A $10 gift from you results in $30 to SDHS.

The Society of Dance History Scholars is pleased to announce an exceptional challenge gift that it has just received from its outgoing president, Susan Manning. The $10,000 challenge grant will match gifts to the Momentum Fund, an endowment that will support new initiatives and projects within SDHS. Seeded by monies from the Selma Jeanne Cohen bequest, the board-directed fund will promote the mission of SDHS to advance the field of dance studies. Susan Manning has generously offered to match contributions to the Momentum Fund dollar for dollar. Once completed, the match will have effectively tripled the opening balance, generating income that will enable SDHS to invest in the future of dance studies.

All contributions are tax-deductible to the maximum allowable by U.S. law as a 501(c)3 organization.

The Momentum Fund challenge that our SDHS past-president Susan Manning made in 2008 for us to raise $10,000 has just been met!

My deep thanks to each and every one of you who contributed to this Fund, and with a special thanks to Susan for her exceptional generosity and vision in establishing the Fund.  With her unprecedented gift of $10,000 to SDHS Susan also extended the challenge to us to donate an equal amount of money ourselves in service of the larger goal of advancing the field of dance studies. Seeded also by monies from the Selma Jeanne Cohen bequest to make a three for one match, the board-directed fund will now promote the mission of SDHS to advance the field by generating income SDHS will draw on to invest in the future of dance studies.

The list below includes all the donors who made possible that match and the launch of our vision.

Best Regards,
Janice Ross, SDHS President
